The Urban Eyes Project is conceived and faciliteted by New Orleans-based artist Laurel True. She started this project in 2014 and so far hundreds of artists from 30 countries have contributed almost 600 mosaic eyes to be installed in street art murals. Laurel organises these street art projects and works with local people and volunteer artists to create mosaic murals on the streets of New Orleans and Haiti. When she first started the eyes Project and asked artists from around the World to send 1-3 eyes (each 14-23 cm wide), she didn’t expect to get so many, so she was planning to use them on walls in New Orleans only. When the participation was so big, she decided to use some of the eyes in Haiti.
